Knowing other people’ thoughts

Imagine if you could read other people’s minds. To know what they want, ask, plan, what they think that others think. This would be something! You could plan your business with accuracy offering exactly what they want and how they want.

This is not an impossible dream these days. You can learn about it in a simple way: just ask Google!

More and more people are using search engines to look for whatever information they want. Google promptly gives them results. But they do one more thing.  They save all the queries in one huge database. This database is a treasure that documents needs and thoughts of billions of people.

On the other hand Google’s spiders and crawlers constantly crawl through web sites and extract their contents. This is saved in another database. This database documents what is on offer, what people and companies are doing.

The two databases represent a complete repository of demand and supply of today’s online as well as offline world.

Although such information is priceless they are there free for you to use. So all you have to do is dig into those billions of words and find what you want! Sounds simple?  Not at all! You are now engaging yourself in one of the oldest mathematical topics: statistics. Statistics has tools to analyse masses of data and extract information hidden within. It discovers for you hidden trends, rules, facts buried under mountains of words. To make use of this treasure of information you need proper tools. We will talk about these tools in the next post.

So the first thing you should do in planning any business is to know if they need it at all. The next fact that you have to know is what the offer that currently exists is. If everybody is already offering what you planning to do, think again. May be you should think of some other idea.

So, it looks that there is no other way but to familiarise ourselves with the ways to use this treasure of information that Google is collecting for us.
